Bacon Wrapped Air Fried Asparagus is one of the simplest vegetable side dishes you can make. Crispy bacon wrapped around tender asparagus creates a savory combination that’s incredibly flavorful and satisfying.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound asparagus (about 16 spears)

  • 8 slices bacon

Instructions

  • Prepare the asparagus:
Break or cut off the woody ends of the asparagus. The stalks naturally snap at the correct point if you bend them near the base.

  • Prepare the bacon:
Cut each slice of bacon in half so you have 16 pieces.

  • Wrap the asparagus:
Starting in the middle of each asparagus spear, wrap a piece of bacon downward toward the bottom, leaving the top and bottom of the asparagus exposed.

  • Arrange in the air fryer:
Place the wrapped asparagus on the air fryer tray or basket, leaving a little space between each piece.

  • Cook:
Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes, or until the bacon becomes crispy and the asparagus is tender.

Notes

Choose thick asparagus:
Thicker stalks work best because they cook at a similar rate as the bacon.

Using thin asparagus:
If only thin asparagus is available, bundle 3–4 spears together and wrap them with bacon before air frying.

Use standard bacon:
Regular-cut bacon works better than thick-cut bacon, which may not crisp before the asparagus overcooks.

Avoid overcrowding:
Leave space between each spear in the air fryer for proper air circulation and crispiness. Cook in batches if necessary.

Check during cooking:
Air fryer performance varies by model, so check periodically to ensure the bacon crisps without burning.

Vegetarian option:
Skip the bacon and toss the asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then air fry for the same amount of time.
