Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mascarpone or cream cheese
- 2 teaspoons honey
- 4 tablespoons butter, room temperature
- 8 slices cinnamon raisin bread (dense bakery-style preferred)
- 1 Granny Smith apple (or other firm apple), cored and thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
Instructions
1. Prepare Filling
- In a bowl or mini processor, whip together:
- Mascarpone (or cream cheese)
- Honey
- Mix until smooth and fluffy.
2. Preheat Panini Press
- Heat to medium-high.
3. Assemble Sandwich
- Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
- Flip slices over and spread 1 tablespoon mascarpone mixture on each.
- Layer apple slices on one piece of bread.
- Close sandwich with the second slice, buttered side facing out.
4. Add Sweet Topping
- Sprinkle brown sugar on top of the sandwich.
5. Grill
- Place sandwiches in panini press.
- Grill for 3–5 minutes until:
- Bread is golden and crisp
- Filling is warm
- Sugar forms a lightly caramelized crust
6. Serve
- Serve warm for best texture and flavor.

- Thin apple slices: Ensures even softening during grilling
- Use firm apples: Prevents mushy texture
- Moderate heat: Avoids burning the sugar coating
