If you’re looking for a no-fuss holiday cookie that still feels fun and festive, these Cake Mix Sprinkle Cookies are it. With just four simple ingredients, they bake up soft, buttery, and perfectly chewy every time.

The beauty of this recipe is its simplicity. A box of cake mix creates a tender, pillowy texture, while melted butter adds rich flavor. The sprinkles? They’re what make these cookies celebration-worthy. Swap colors to match any occasion — red and green for Christmas, pastels for Easter, or bold brights for birthdays.

Whether you’re baking with kids, prepping for a cookie exchange, or need a last-minute dessert, these cookies deliver big results with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 bag/box white cake mix

  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature

  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/4 cup sprinkles, plus more for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, and melted butter. Stir until fully incorporated. The dough will be thick and slightly sticky.

  3. Fold in 1/4 cup sprinkles until evenly distributed.

  4. Using a 1-tablespoon scoop, place dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

  5. Top with additional sprinkles for extra color and crunch.

  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cookies are set and dry to the touch.

  7. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

  • Freeze the Dough:
Scoop dough into balls, freeze on a tray, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake directly from frozen, adding 1–2 extra minutes to the baking time.
  • Store at Room Temperature:
Keep baked cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze Baked Cookies:
Freeze for up to 3 months — perfect for preparing ahead of holiday parties.
