These cheesy pizza hot dogs wrap beef, turkey, or vegetarian hot dogs and melty string cheese in golden pizza dough for a fun, family-friendly meal.

  • Total Time: 33 minutes
  • Yield: 6 pizza hot dogs

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough, at room temperature

  • 6 beef, turkey, or vegetarian hot dogs

  • 3 pieces string cheese

  • Marinara, ketchup, or mustard for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven. Heat the oven to 450°F. Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.

  2. Divide the dough. Cut the pizza dough into 6 equal portions.

  3. Shape the dough ropes. Roll each portion into a long, thin rope approximately four times the length of a hot dog.

  4. Prepare the cheese and hot dogs. Cut each piece of string cheese in half lengthwise. Carefully slice each hot dog lengthwise, stopping before cutting all the way through.

  5. Add the cheese. Place one piece of string cheese inside each sliced hot dog.

  6. Wrap the hot dogs. Starting at one end, wind a pizza dough rope around each hot dog, covering it from end to end.

  7. Arrange for baking. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.

  8. Bake. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.

  9. Serve. Allow to cool slightly, then serve with marinara, ketchup, or mustard for dipping.

Notes

  • Bring dough to room temperature: This makes it easier to roll and wrap without tearing.

  • Keep the ropes even: Similar dough thickness helps the pizza dogs bake consistently.

  • Don’t overfill: Keep the cheese tucked inside the hot dogs to reduce leaking during baking.

  • Seal the ends: Gently press the dough around the ends of each hot dog to help keep the cheese inside.

  • Check the dough: The outside should be golden brown, with no raw dough remaining around the hot dog.
