Frozen Bananas on a Stick are a simple, kid-friendly treat that turns everyday bananas into something special. Creamy frozen banana, a thin layer of chocolate, and crunchy toppings make every bite fun.

They’re easy enough for kids to help make and can be prepared ahead for a ready-to-grab snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large bananas, peeled and cut in half
  • 8 wooden skewers, chopsticks, or popsicle sticks
  • 1/2 cup milk or dark chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons coconut oil

Toppings of Choice

  • Dye-free sprinkles
  • Coconut flakes
  • Crushed graham crackers
  • Crushed nuts
  • Crushed pretzels
  • Hemp seeds

Instructions

  1. Carefully insert a stick into the cut end of each banana half.
  2. Arrange your desired toppings in shallow bowls.
  3. Place the chocolate chips and coconut oil in a separate shallow microwave-safe bowl.
  4. Microwave for 30–60 seconds, stirring halfway through, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  5. Use a spoon to drizzle the melted chocolate over the bananas.
  6. Immediately sprinkle with your favorite toppings before the chocolate sets.
  7. Place the bananas on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Freeze for 2–3 hours, or overnight, until firm.
  9. Serve straight from the freezer.

Notes

  • Work quickly: Add toppings while the chocolate is still melted so they stick.
  • Use ripe bananas: They should be sweet but firm enough to hold their shape on the stick.
  • For little kids: Use popsicle sticks instead of sharp wooden skewers, and cut the frozen banana into smaller pieces if needed.
  • Nut-free option: Stick with coconut, sprinkles, graham crackers, or crushed pretzels for a nut-free topping combination.
