Guacamole is a classic Mexican dip known for its creamy texture and fresh, vibrant flavors. Made primarily from ripe avocados, it’s perfect for parties, snacks, taco nights, or casual gatherings. Simple ingredients come together quickly to create a dip that’s both refreshing and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 3 avocados

  • 2 tomatoes, seeded and diced

  • 2 tablespoons red onion, finely diced

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

  • Tortilla chips, for serving

Instructions

1. Prepare the Avocados
Cut the avocados in half and remove the pits. Scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.

2. Mash the Base
Using a fork or spoon, mash the avocado until mostly smooth while leaving a few small chunks for texture.

3. Add the Mix-Ins
Fold in the tomatoes, red onion, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, and salt until evenly combined.

4. Serve
Serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Notes

Prevent Browning
Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before storing to minimize air exposure.

Use an Airtight Container
Store guacamole in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed container.

Reduce Air Space
Choose a container that fits the guacamole closely to reduce oxidation.

Avoid Ethylene Fruits
Keep guacamole away from fruits like bananas and apples, which release ethylene gas that accelerates browning.

If It Starts to Brown
Stir in a little extra lime or lemon juice to help slow oxidation.
