Homemade Graham Crackers are a simple, kid-friendly baking project that delivers a crisp, lightly sweet snack with a warm honey-cinnamon flavor. Making them from scratch allows for cleaner ingredients, customizable sweetness, and better texture control compared to store-bought versions—perfect for snacks, lunchboxes, or even s’mores.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

    1. Preheat oven
Set oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    2. Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together flours, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

    3. Cut in butter
Add cold butter and mix using a pastry cutter or fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    4. Add wet ingredients
Stir in honey, milk, and vanilla until a dough forms.

    5. Chill dough
Wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm up.

    6. Roll & cut
Roll dough thin (about 1/8 inch thick) on a floured surface.
Cut into rectangles or fun shapes.

    7. Dock the dough
Use a fork to poke holes (prevents puffing and gives classic graham look).

    8. Bake
Bake for 12–15 minutes, until edges are golden and crisp.

    9. Cool
Let cool completely—they will crisp up further as they cool.

Notes

  • Add a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar before baking for extra sweetness.
  • Use cookie cutters for kid-friendly shapes.
  • Swap honey with maple syrup for a slightly different flavor profile.
