Pizza night doesn’t always need a pizza dough project. These Homemade Pizza Bagels are quick, cheesy, and easy to customize with whatever toppings your family loves. They’re a fun lunch, after-school snack, or easy weeknight dinner that gets crispy around the edges and gooey in the middle.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian herbs
  • 6 mini whole-wheat bagels, split in half
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Your favorite pizza toppings, optional

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or aluminum foil

Instructions

1. Mix the Sauce

Preheat the oven to 425°F.

In a small bowl, stir together the tomato sauce, garlic powder, and Italian herbs.

2. Build Your Pizzas

Place the bagel halves cut-side up on a parchment- or foil-lined baking sheet.

Spread the seasoned tomato sauce evenly over each bagel half.

Sprinkle each with about 2 tablespoons of mozzarella, then add your favorite toppings.

3. Bake Until Bubbly

Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bagels are golden around the edges.

Let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Don’t overload them: A thin layer of sauce and a moderate amount of toppings helps the bagels crisp up instead of becoming soggy.
  • Give everyone a choice: Set out several toppings and let each person make their own combination.
  • Watch the edges: Bagels can brown quickly, so keep an eye on them toward the end of baking.
  • Use what you have: This is an easy recipe for using up small amounts of leftover vegetables, cooked meat, or cheese.
