Kale Chips are a crispy, simple snack that turns a bunch of kale into something the whole family can munch on. They take just a few ingredients and a quick bake to become light and crunchy.

They’re great for snack time, lunchboxes, or adding a little crunch alongside dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bunch kale
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. Wash the kale and remove the tough stems.
  3. Tear or cut the leaves into roughly 2-inch pieces.
  4. Divide the kale between two cookie sheets lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  5. Lightly spray the kale with oil and toss to coat.
  6. Spread the kale into a single layer, leaving a little space between the pieces.
  7. Bake for 18–20 minutes, watching closely during the last few minutes so the kale doesn’t burn.
  8. Let cool slightly, then serve.

Notes

  • Dry the kale well: Extra water can make the leaves steam instead of crisp.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan: Give the kale room to breathe so the edges can get crispy.
  • Watch closely: Kale can go from crisp to burnt quickly during the final few minutes.
  • Keep the pieces similar in size: Smaller pieces will crisp faster than larger ones.
