Lazy BBQ Chicken truly lives up to its name. It doesn’t get simpler than this recipe — and somehow, it still turns out to be the most tender, juicy BBQ chicken every single time.

With just a few basic ingredients and a sheet of parchment paper, you’ll have a hands-off dinner ready in 30 minutes. No marinating. No flipping. Almost no cleanup. It’s the kind of dependable, foolproof recipe that makes weeknights feel easy.

If you’re looking for a low-effort, high-protein meal that delivers big flavor, this is it.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • ¼½ cup favorite BBQ sauce (or enough to coat generously)
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat

Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper if desired.

Step 2: Prepare the Packet

Place a long piece of parchment paper in front of you and fold it in half like a book.

Unfold it and pour about ¼ to ½ cup of BBQ sauce onto one side of the parchment. Place the chicken breasts on top and coat them well in the sauce.

Step 3: Seal

Fold the parchment paper back over the chicken. Starting at one end, fold and crease the edges tightly several times, working your way around until the chicken is completely enclosed and sealed. The goal is to prevent any air from escaping.

Step 4: Bake

Place the sealed parchment packet on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.

Carefully open the packet (watch for hot steam) and serve immediately.

Notes

  • True Weeknight Winner: This is a genuine 30-minute recipe — perfect for busy evenings.
  • Minimal Cleanup: Everything cooks inside the parchment packet, so cleanup is practically nonexistent.
  • Use Your Favorite Sauce: Sweet, smoky, spicy, honey, or sugar-free BBQ sauce all work beautifully.
  • Meal Prep Friendly: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Serving Ideas: Slice over salads, tuck into wraps, serve with roasted veggies, or pair with rice or baked potatoes.
