Ingredients
- 1/2 cup yellow or white miso
- 2 tablespoons agave (or 3 tablespoons sugar)
- 1/2 cup mirin
- 1 1/2 pounds black cod or salmon (about 4 filets; use an oily fish for best results)
Instructions
-
In a bowl, whisk together the miso, agave, and mirin until smooth.
-
Pour the marinade over the fish, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 3 days for deeper flavor).
-
Preheat the oven broiler to high.
-
Remove the fish from the marinade and place skin-side down on a foil-lined baking sheet.
-
Broil the fish about 6 inches from the heat source for 8–10 minutes, or until the top is golden, caramelized, and bubbly.
Notes
- Marinate for Maximum Flavor:
If you have the time, let the fish marinate for up to 3 days. The longer it sits, the richer and more flavorful the glaze becomes. - Use a Hot Broiler:
Make sure your broiler is fully preheated. High heat helps caramelize the miso glaze while keeping the fish tender and moist inside. This Miso Marinated Fish is proof that simple ingredients can create a truly special dish—effortless, flavorful, and always impressive.
