Pizza Muffins turn classic pizza into fun, bite-sized snacks that are perfect for lunchboxes, after-school snacks, or easy family dinners. Crispy pizza dough, melty mozzarella, and pizza sauce come together in just a few simple steps.

They’re easy to customize with favorite toppings, making them a recipe everyone can enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • Olive oil, for brushing

Optional Toppings

  • Mini pepperoni
  • Cooked sausage
  • Diced bell peppers
  • Sliced olives
  • Mushrooms
  • Spinach
    • Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Bring the pizza dough to room temperature and preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Roll the dough into an 18 x 12-inch rectangle and cut it into approximately 3 x 3-inch squares.
  3. Lightly grease a mini muffin tin.
  4. Press one dough square into each muffin cup, allowing the corners to stick up over the edges.
  5. Brush the exposed dough lightly with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 8 minutes until the dough begins to set.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven.
  8. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of pizza sauce into each cup.
  9. Divide the mozzarella evenly among the cups and add any desired toppings.
  10. Return to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden.
  11. Let cool for a few minutes before removing from the pan and serving.

Notes

  • Don’t skip the first bake: Par-baking the dough helps keep the bottoms crisp after adding the sauce.
  • Avoid overfilling: A small spoonful of sauce and cheese prevents messy overflow during baking.
  • Customize freely: Pepperoni, vegetables, cooked chicken, or extra herbs all make great additions.
  • Let them cool slightly: Allow the pizza muffins to rest for a few minutes before removing them from the pan so they hold their shape.
