Ingredients
- 1 batch whole wheat pancake and waffle mix, prepared according to package or recipe directions
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, whipped or softened
- 1/4 cup strawberry preserves
Instructions
- Prepare the waffles according to the recipe or package directions.
- Transfer the waffles to a wire rack and let them cool completely.
- Spread one waffle with about 1 tablespoon of cream cheese.
- Spread another waffle with about 1 teaspoon of strawberry preserves.
- Place the waffles together to make a sandwich.
- Repeat with the remaining waffles and filling.
- Serve immediately or wrap individually for lunchboxes and snacks.
Notes
- Cool the waffles first: Warm waffles can make the cream cheese soft and messy, so let them cool completely before assembling.
- Don’t overfill: A thin layer of filling makes the sandwiches easier for little hands to hold.
- Make a batch: You don’t need to use all the waffles at once. Freeze the extras for another day.
- Mix it up: Swap the strawberry preserves for whatever jam or fruit spread your family has on hand.
