Tostada Salad turns fresh, colorful ingredients into a fun meal with plenty of crunch. Crispy tostada shells are layered with creamy guacamole, lettuce, chicken, black beans, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream for a satisfying dinner that feels a little more exciting than an everyday salad.

It’s easy to customize, making it a great option for family meals where everyone likes different toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 tostada shells
  • 1/2 cup guacamole
  • 2 cups chopped lettuce
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, finely chopped
  • 1 cup black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 2 small tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese or Mexican cheese blend
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Salsa, optional

Instructions

  1. Place one tostada shell on a plate.
  2. Spread about 1 tablespoon of guacamole over the tostada.
  3. Layer with lettuce, chicken, black beans, tomatoes, and cheese.
  4. Place another tostada on top and repeat the layers.
  5. Finish with a dollop of sour cream and salsa, if desired.
  6. Repeat with the remaining tostadas and ingredients, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • Keep it crunchy: Don’t assemble the tostadas too far in advance. The toppings can make the shells soft.
  • Make it vegetarian: Skip the chicken and add extra black beans, pinto beans, or your favorite cooked vegetables.
  • For picky eaters: Serve the toppings separately so everyone can choose what goes on their tostada.
  • Serving idea: For younger kids, break the tostada into smaller pieces and serve the toppings alongside it for easier eating.
