Tuna Pasta Salad is a quick, no-fuss meal made with simple ingredients that are easy to keep on hand. Tender pasta, flaky tuna, crunchy vegetables, and tangy pickles come together with a creamy lemon-mustard dressing for a lunch or light dinner that’s easy to prepare ahead.

It’s a great way to use leftover pasta and can be customized with whatever fresh vegetables are in the fridge.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon or yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or vegan mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 (8-ounce) cans freshwater tuna, drained
  • 4 cups cooked pasta
  • 1/2 cup carrot, peeled and shredded
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, seeded and diced
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles, diced
  • 1 tomato, seeded and diced

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, mustard, mayonnaise, and salt.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, tuna, carrot, cucumber, pickles, and tomato.
  3. Pour the dressing over the pasta mixture and gently stir until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Cover and refrigerate until chilled and ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use any pasta shape: Rotini, shells, elbows, or bow ties all work well and hold the dressing nicely.
  • Make it your own: Swap or add vegetables based on what’s available in the fridge.
  • For a brighter flavor: Add extra lemon juice or a little fresh dill before serving.
  • Keep it chilled: This salad is best served cold, making it especially convenient for packed lunches, picnics, and make-ahead meals.
