Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ onion, diced
  • ½ red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 sandwich buns or rolls (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Sauté the Vegetables

Heat the olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 3–5 minutes, or until softened.

Add the red bell pepper, carrot, and celery. Continue cooking for another 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 2: Cook the Turkey

Add the ground turkey to the pan. Break it up with a spoon and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the meat is fully cooked through.

Step 3: Simmer the Sauce

Stir in the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Reduce heat slightly and simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken and flavors to develop.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Serve

Spoon the turkey mixture onto hamburger buns or your favorite sandwich rolls. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Prepare the turkey mixture up to two days in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave before serving.
  • Freezer Friendly: Freeze the turkey mixture in an airtight container for up to three months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
  • Low-Carb Option: Skip the buns and serve over lettuce wraps, baked potatoes, or even rice.
  • Extra Veggies: Finely chopped zucchini or mushrooms can easily be added for additional nutrients.
