Guacamole Cheeseburger

Juicy beef burgers topped with melted cheese and creamy homemade guacamole make this Guacamole Cheeseburger the ultimate crowd-pleasing meal.

The “Long-Weekend” Guacamole Cheeseburger

When one is tasked with reinventing the standard barbecue for a healthy, “crowd-pleasing” cookout, sometimes the best solution is to ditch the basic condiments entirely. This Guacamole Cheeseburger uses savory beef and fresh avocado to create a game-changing meal right at home. It’s a “wholesome” twist that had the in-house testers absolutely thrilled—to the point where one could barely hear a muffled “more guac please” through bites of melty goodness!

Why This Recipe Wins

  • Protein-Packed Power: By incorporating savory beef and healthy fats directly onto the patty, the meal provides a “filling and tasty” boost of energy.
  • Cookout Surprise: Moving away from a “standard plain patty” makes a Memorial Day gathering feel like a “special summer” treat.
  • Naturally Creamy: Using fresh guacamole provides a “rich yet robust” profile without the need for heavy, artificial sauces.
  • Bun-Free Ease: These “stacked masterpieces” are perfectly satisfying even without the bread, making them an ideal choice for varying dietary needs.

What You’ll Need

  • The Hearty Base: Classic beef patties for that perfect grill sizzle.
  • The Creamy Factor: Fresh guacamole or mashed avocado.
  • The Cheesy Center: A slice of melty cheese to tie it all together.
  • The Vessel: High-quality buns (or crisp lettuce wraps for a bread-free option).

How to Make It

  • The Grill: Cook the beef patties over medium-high heat to create a beautiful sear on the outside while keeping the inside “velvety smooth” and juicy.
  • The Melt: Add the cheese during the last minute of cooking until it is “thoroughly, but gently” melted over the edges.
  • The Spread: Smear a generous layer of guacamole onto the toasted buns to create a “light and healthy” base.
  • The Stack: Place the juicy cheeseburger onto the bun and top with the other half for a “perfectly crisp” finish.
  • The Plate: Serve immediately alongside Air Fryer French Fries and fresh corn on the cob for a “mess-proof” masterpiece!

Get the Kids Involved: The “Burger Builders” Since there’s no complicated prep involved, this is a “ton of fun” for kids to help assemble and enjoy.

  • Ages 3–5: Let them be the “Guac Scoopers.” They can help place a dollop of avocado onto the cold buns, practicing their “precision.”
  • Ages 6–9: Have them help as “The Cheese Handlers.” Show them how the bright slices pair with the beef to create a “scrumptious” visual appeal before handing them over to the grill master.
  • Ages 10+: Let them lead the “Patty Shaping.” Under supervision, they can press the ground beef into perfect circles and listen for the “magic sizzle” that signals the meat has hit the grill.

Tips for Success

  • Quality is Crucial: If flimsy buns are used, they might fall apart under the heavy toppings. Grabbing a bun that’s as special as the filling is imperative to achieve that “sturdy and crisp” eating experience.
  • Handling Matters: The goal is a “refreshing and light” but hearty bite, so avoid overworking the beef when forming the patties to keep them tender.
  • The Prep Trick: One can form a “huge batch” of the patties in advance, keep them in the fridge, and just grill the burgers as guests arrive for a “quick and easy” routine.
  • Variation: For a “decadent and indulgent” version, add a slice of crispy bacon or a scoop of fresh salsa to elevate the flavor profile even further.

Serve & Savor

The Guacamole Cheeseburger is a “tantalizing taste sensation” that proves backyard cookouts can be “out of this world” delicious. It’s a “versatile” recipe that turns a long weekend gathering into a “memory-making” moment.

  • 2 avocados
  • 1 small lime
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • 6 slices cheese

    • Ground beef
    • Garlic powder
    • Onion powder
    • Worcestershire sauce
    • Black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Mix gently with your hands until just combined.
  • Divide the beef mixture into 6 equal portions and shape into patties about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  • Heat a large skillet or sauté pan over medium heat.
  • Cook the burgers for about 3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness.
  • Top each burger with a slice of cheese and cook for 1 additional minute until melted.
  • While the burgers cook, make the guacamole:
    • Scoop avocado flesh into a bowl
    • Add lime juice, remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, and cilantro
    • Mash until creamy with a few chunks remaining
  • Assemble the burgers:
    • Place tomato slices on the bottom buns
    • Add cheeseburgers
    • Top with a generous spoonful of guacamole
    • Finish with top buns

  • Toasted buns add extra texture and flavor.
  • Add lettuce, onions, or jalapeños for extra toppings.
