Juicy beef burgers topped with melted cheese and creamy homemade guacamole make this Guacamole Cheeseburger the ultimate crowd-pleasing meal.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher or sea salt, divided
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 avocados
  • 1 small lime
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • 6 slices cheese
  • Burger buns
  • 1 tomato, sliced

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine:
    • Ground beef
    • Garlic powder
    • Onion powder
    • Worcestershire sauce
    • Black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Mix gently with your hands until just combined.
  • Divide the beef mixture into 6 equal portions and shape into patties about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  • Heat a large skillet or sauté pan over medium heat.
  • Cook the burgers for about 3 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer to your desired doneness.
  • Top each burger with a slice of cheese and cook for 1 additional minute until melted.
  • While the burgers cook, make the guacamole:
    • Scoop avocado flesh into a bowl
    • Add lime juice, remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, and cilantro
    • Mash until creamy with a few chunks remaining
  • Assemble the burgers:
    • Place tomato slices on the bottom buns
    • Add cheeseburgers
    • Top with a generous spoonful of guacamole
    • Finish with top buns
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados for the creamiest guacamole.
  • Pepper jack, cheddar, or Monterey Jack cheese all work well.
  • Toasted buns add extra texture and flavor.
  • Add lettuce, onions, or jalapeños for extra toppings.
